Tattoo AftercareTo maintain the fine details and vibrant colours of your new tattoo, please follow the instructions below carefully.
1. Second Skin DressingAfter 24 hours, remove the first layer of second skin dressing that I applied for you, then apply the second layer.Keep the dressing on for 2–3 days. This medical-grade barrier helps protect your exposed skin from bacteria and friction.Fluid build-up is normal. You may notice dark or cloudy fluid underneath the dressing. This is a mixture of plasma and excess ink — a natural healing fluid produced by your body. Please do not panic. This helps your tattoo heal.Remove the dressing immediately if it starts to peel and exposes the tattoo, or if fluid begins to leak out. Leaving damaged or loose dressing on the skin can trap bacteria.Tip for removing the film:
Remove it under clean, warm running water. Peel it off slowly and horizontally, parallel to the skin. Do not pull it upwards.2. Cleaning & Daily CareWash your tattoo 1–2 times per day. After removing the film, wash the tattoo using only clean hands and a mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap.Clean gently. Do not use towels, sponges, or loofahs. Gently massage the tattooed area to remove any dried plasma or ointment.Pat dry, do not rub. Use a clean disposable paper towel to gently pat the area dry. Avoid using bath towels, as they can carry bacteria and lint.Avoid soaking. Do not take baths, swim, use hot tubs, or go to saunas for at least 3 weeks. Prolonged exposure to water can cause ink to fade or leak out.3. The “Thin Layer” Rule — MoisturisingWait before applying products. After washing your tattoo, allow it to air dry for around 15 minutes before applying any aftercare product.Apply a very thin layer 3–5 times per day. The tattoo should look slightly shiny, but it should not look wet, greasy, or overly coated.Avoid over-moisturising. Applying too much ointment can prevent the skin from breathing, which may cause clogged pores, pimples, or even affect the ink during healing.Recommended products: Use Aquaphor or a professional tattoo aftercare cream. Avoid using Vaseline, as it is too thick and does not allow the skin to breathe properly.4. Important Notes & Long-Term CareDo not scratch or pick. Your tattoo may become itchy during healing and may develop light scabbing or “onion-skin” peeling. Do not pick or scratch it. Pulling off scabs too early can remove ink and cause gaps in the details.Avoid direct sunlight. UV rays are one of the fastest ways to fade coloured tattoos. During the healing process, keep your tattoo covered with clothing.Sun protection: Once your tattoo is fully healed, usually after 3–4 weeks, apply a high-SPF sunscreen whenever you go outside to keep the colours bright and long-lasting.Avoid intense exercise and alcohol. During the first week after getting tattooed, avoid excessive sweating and drinking alcohol. Sweat can irritate the fresh wound, and alcohol can thin the blood, which may affect the healing process.During the peeling stage, your tattoo may look slightly dull. This is completely normal. Once the skin has fully regenerated, the true colour and details will become clear again.
